U-NITE CAMP

NYP International Students' Club had organized a bonding camp specially for new ISC members on 10-11 June 2011. This camp was known as “U-NITE” which means “yoU aNd I Together Everytime”. The main objective of this camp is to unite all ISC members and to create a strong bond among them.

On the fist day, the registration started at 6.30pm and the members were divided into 6 groups [Alohomora, Benish Bedazz, Deletrius, Colloportus, Evanesco, Fulunculus].

The camp began with a short emcee session followed by ice breaking games.

After the facilitators and the group members got to know each other, brainstorming sets in. They were asked to come out with a group cheer and the flag design. After that, each group presented their creative cheers and flags and the scene was lively at that moment.

Next, the “Fashion show” session. Each group worked as a team to decorate their “models” ( a male model and a female model) with the Harry Porter themed fashion. Although they were given only newspaper, raffia string, masking tape and rubbish bags, each group managed to come out with cute, funny and creative Harry Porter themed designs.

After all the laughters, it’s time for the station games session. Each group were given a map containing the routes. There were a total 8 stations for the station game.

The first station was the “Wizard Giant Elf” which is similar to the “Scissors Paper Stone”. Those who won will get to play “Tic Tac Toe” by standing on the box on the floor. Whoever loses the Tic Tac Toe will be forfeited.

The second station was to run the stairs from 3^rd to 7^th floor to memorize the spells and run back to complete the drawings within the limited time. They will be splashed with water if they exceed the time limit.

The third station was to cross the river by stepping on the boxes. These boxes contains different colour depending on the colour of their T-shirt.

The fourth station was to pass through the spider web without touching on the web. In this station, the campers will have to brainstorm and cooperate in order to pass through the spider web without touching the web. If not, they will be forfeited.

The fifth station was about searching an animal card around the area while being blindfolded. The others will be allocated at different places and asked to imitate different animals’ sound.

The sixth station was to answer the game master’s questions by knocking or shaking heads oppositely to the answer we have to say. If yes then they have to say “yes” but shake their heads and vice versa.

The seventh station was to line up according to the characteristics while being mute.

The eighth station was to search out the total money required in the pail of flour mixed with water.

After all the stations were completed by each group, they were gathered back to the starting place. This is the time for having supper and bathing. Around 2.00am, lights were off.

On the 2^nd day, everyone wakes up at 6a.m and breakfast was served. This is followed by the Olympic games (Also known as the Morning PT).

After the games, breakfast is served at the north canteen.

Next, everyone proceed to the tennis court again for the water game session. Two groups will stand at one area. The game’s objective is to protect their castle so that it wouldn’t get wet or fall down. Members will attack their enemy by throwing water bombs to their enemy’s castle. Everyone’s laughter can be heard and they had lots of fun although it started to rain in between the game. Everyone eventually got wet though it was an unforgettable memory for everyone.

After everyone changed their clothes, they were gathered at north canteen for feedback. It can be seen that most of them really enjoyed the camp and hope to come for another camp organized by ISC.

Finally, the winning teams were announced and the prize was HAMPERS!! Below are the photos of the winning teama with their facilitators. After having a photo taking session, this officially marks the end of U-NITE CAMP.

Last but not less, a million thanks to Executive committees who gave advices and help throughout the planning and during the camp. Not to forget all the committees and helpers who did contribute well to make this camp a success.

International Students' Orientation (ISO)

International Students’ Orientation (ISO) is an annual event organized by International Students’ Club (ISC) under supervision from Office for International Students (OIS). This event is conducted by way of introducing NYP, delivery of speeches and presentations as well as organizing activities for NYP freshies, mainly international students. Through this orientation, the new members will get to know more about NYP, OIS and ISC.

This was held on the 14th April 2011 at LTQ-7.

FUN TIME MACHINE (updated)

Wondering what is the title about? It's a telematch within NYP! This telematch is mainly to bond all the nationalities and every club together.

Event : Fun Time Machine (telematch competition)

Date : 21st July 2010 (Wednesday)

Registration time : 2.30pm - 3.20pm

Event time: 3.30pm - 7pm

Venue : NYP Sports Hall

How does it work?

First of all, form a team of 6 representing your CCA or academic club, each team must ne mix gender.You can bring a substitution before the event start if 1 of your teammates does not show up; if not, your group will be disqualified.

Please wear sports attire to this event and bring admin card upon registration. If you are late after registration close, penalty will be given – deduction in event points/marks.

CCA points will not be given to all participants but the winning teams stand to WIN ATTRACTIVE PRIZES. There will also be a bonus prize for 5 lucky winners (individual) in the bonus stage too. The prize given are as follow:

1st prize: $300 cash voucher
2nd prize: $150 cash voucher
3rd prize: $100 cash voucher
Consolation prize: $80 woth of hamper
Individual bonus prize x5

Please send representative team to support this event (1club max. send in 3 teams). No participation fees!!

Bonding Camp-->Amazing midnight camp

The objective of this camp is to:-
- Create a better bonding between members and committees of ISC.
- Welcome and create unity among the ISC members.
- Build up ISC’s hyper active spirit.
- Encourage members to step out of their comfort zone.

- Provide leadership training for the new members.

Lunch Time Concert!!

Looking for small groups of mobile performances / individual talents and basking around campus during Lunchtime!

The theme for this lunchtime concert is in celebration with the "Singapore Youth Olympic Games" where the torch flame will be coming to NYP on 7 August!!! Thus performances are encouraged to be choreographed in relation to the theme "Friendship, Excellence & Respect".

The Singapore Challenge

The Office for International Students (OIS) and the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) will be organising a race called "The Singapore Challenge" for all current NYP students. There will be lots of challenges, fun and FOOD!

Following are the details:-
Date: 17/7/2010 (Sat)
Time: 8.30 am to 6.30 pm
Flag off venue: Singapore Post Centre (Next to Paya Lebar MRT)
Attire: Sport wear

* All participants will be given a CEPAS EZ-Link card for the race.

Interested?!Form a team of 8 and participate in this exciting and challenging event. The winning teams stand to win attractive prizes too! There must be 3 different nationalities in each group and one of the nationality must be Singaporean.

*Each team must bring along only 1 fully charged digital camera with USB cable and students card for the race.

Attractice prizes are:-
Champion: $600
1st runner up: $240
2nd runner up: $160

All participants will receive a goodie bag each! Besides,all participants are invited to an after race buffet dinner!

ISC Leadership Training Camp!!

Hi all! So~~ Surely you have been wondering what is the upcoming event of ISC. Here the answer is, next up, we having Leadership training Camp – DYNAMIX Camp! The objective of this camp is to:

- Determine strategies to improve the adaption of organizational changes
- Learn how to identify and communicate more effectively
- Identify to build relationships more successfully
- Recognize the importance of personal values to leadership success
- Learn to create more accountability amongst their teams and delegate more effectively.

Club Crawl is around the corner!!!
Dear International students!! Here is the chance for you to know our club, to join our club and to have fun with us!!

There will be our club members standing around our booth to introduce our club to you during club crawl. If you have any enquiry, just ask! And of course, if you want to be a part of our club, you just need to register your name at out booth to let us know you will be an active member in our club.

Besides, we also have a performance at 11.20am. We have written a song for our club and we will form a choir to sing the bonding song during club crawl performance. The name of the bonding song is “Moment together”.
